I LOVE THIS "LOVE" CD!! I bought it the day it came out, and put it into my car's cd player as soon as I walked out of the store! Damn, what I heard made my jaw drop to the floor! It is so incredible what they did, all the mixing & blending of two or three songs into one...and the accapella version of "Because" is pretty awesome! Glad you happened upon it, Johan! This is definitely a "must have" cd! __________________ "Don't try to stop me...I am a professional!!!" -- DAVID COVERDALE

Johan, do you like musicals? And might I suggest that you give the Norwegian group Midnight choir a listen? They released a CD in 1998 called Amsterdam stranded. That CD sold quite alot in Norway, but I dont think they got reckognized abroad. Probably youll find some samples on the internet, its a really good CD. By the way Glenn Hughes did a show in Oslo just weeks ago, it was sold out and I didnt get the chance to see him. I also met other Norwegian Asia fans at the Shepherds bush show in London. That was real fun. Take care- I hope Derby and Rosenborg will meet in the champions league one day, allthough everyone know the outcome. Odin __________________ A great fan of John Wetton |

Reply with quote | #18 | I was surprised to hear a bit of 'Revolution #9' in the transition to 'I am the Walrus'... The 'Tomorrow Never Knows' rythym under 'Within You, Without You' was really cool. I really appreciated the acoustic versions of 'Strawberry Fields' and 'While My Guitar..' as well.

I got the Love CD for Christmas, but am just listening to it for the first time now. (King Crimson's Red was the first Christmas gift CD I opened and I've been so absorbed in that one, I haven't listened to the others I got yet!) As I've stated on here before, I'm a casual Beatles fan-I know and like their songs, but could not begin to tell you what song came from what album. That said, this is a great CD! On one hand, it makes you listen to the Beatles with fresh ears and on the other hand, I think too it would be a good CD to give to someone unfamiliar with the Beatles because it gives a good overview of their career without being a stale Greatest Hits package. __________________ Karen

I really liked Love! Of course when I hear the Beatles now I picture very limber french people in tights, but that is my issue to deal with! |

New band "The Feeling". British pop rock in the vein of close
harmony, energetic, manic but lovely playing and lyrics, great production. They had a hit single here a few monthes ago. Icon-man Mitchell gave it to me for Christmas.

Reply with quote | #23 | Re: Love, I am really enjoying this. It's fun to pick out parts of songs - makes you really pay attention, too. Great job of blending songs and clips - some I'd never have thought would go together.
Listening to Eleanor Rigby for the first time in ages, a random thought popped up. There were some strange pairings on 45s back in the day. Putting Eleanor Rigby on the B side of Yellow Submarine is a little surreal. [I think it was the B side - if I remember correctly the green (entire) apple side of the label was the "A" and the inside (white as if cut in half) was the "B". Anybody remember?] Although I'm not sure what else would really have gone with YS anyway. __________________ When inspiration dances, and takes your breath away... -MO / In the heart of darkness there’s a golden light Like a silent witness, it’s burning bright |

hello really like the way George Martin & son mixed this CD its really great! still the white album is my favorite also i saw this just posted from classic rock mailing group Paul McCartney is to record his parts on an unfinished Beatles song. Now And Then was abandoned during the band's original tenure. McCartney, Ringo Starr and George Harrison also weighed up the idea of reviving it a decade ago, though Harrison vetoed the proposal. Starr has yet to offer a public opinion on the decision.

Reply with quote | #27 | Some web resources if you are interested in more info about the Beatles Love album. Hope this isn’t too long, but I thought it worth sharing. If you want it in its own thread let me know & I’ll fix it.
NPR : Something in the Way You Remix
Weekend Edition Saturday, January 6, 2007
http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=6724341&sc=emaf
Interview with Giles Martin. Right underneath the title is the button for the short version of the interview. Talks about the project, including its history, musically, the Beatles’ thoughts, details about the song constructions, etc., plus a reviewer’s comments.
Time: a little over 9 minutes.
More of the interview (more depth/length) is available on the same web page, some duplication here & there because the short interview came from this one. Includes some personal history, thoughts about the Beatles playing, much more musical detail about what was used for each song (including Clapton’s clip), the difference between the multi-track tapes & the records, remastering vs. remixing, not to mention plans for the animals in the evil circus! Good stuff – fascinating (at least to me).
Time: 29 minutes
(Uses Real Audio or Windows Media Player)
NPR : George Martin: The Fifth Beatle Returns
World Cafe, December 22, 2006
http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=6665771&sc=emaf
The text is a short c.v. Audio is an interview with Sir George Martin. This is mainly history - some of his personal history, the Beatles, & old recording technology too (no electricity!). A little about Love here & there.
Time: 30 minutes
And finally…I’m still working my way through the Beatles website items for the album, so caveat emptor, so to speak. There is something to get via podcasting, or audio interview questions with the Martins & Paul & Ringo, plus track by track discussion. You can start on any number, it will then continue playing consecutively. To listen - http://www.thebeatles.com/hub/love/site/?sec=listen

Johan, I checked out The Feeling's MySpace page and it looks like they will be in your neck of the woods soon. I have the feeling (ha ha!) that you might want to check them out! Also, I had a little extra Christmas gift money and decided to order my own copy of their debut. If you like that type of pop stuff, you might check out The Rosenbergs. They are defunct now, but I believe you can still get their album Mission: You from Robert Fripp's DGM Shoppe. I think you might like it. Robert distributed their album for a while. That says a lot, no? __________________ "I believe I can change my world."

Reply with quote | #29 | I hope to be going to see them soon with John Mitchell, who gave me the CD Xmas present. I've listened a lot now,and it grows as well. You will not be disappointed.
GD tells me they do a really good version of 'Video Killed' live.
Thanks for the Rosenbergs tip, I'll see if DGM will throw one my way. |
