Well, I can't blame anyone from Cleveland for begrudging the Ravens. Being a native Baltimoron, I can totally relate to the disappointment of having ones home town team taken away (although with the passage of time I can now understand the Irsay vs. city gov't conflict a bit better to understand why he skipped town so suddenly). That event began my disinterest with the NFL... actually it probably started with the Irsay vs. Elway battle a little bit earlier in Colts history. After the Colts left B'more it seemed that every year another team moved elsewhere and the league became overshadowed by big business, from huge athlete contracts (and egos) to incredibly-long-sponsorship-stadium-names, and I found it was a heck of a lot more fun just to play pick-up games of touch football than it was to sit and watch a 60 minute game on TV that lasts 3 hours

Can't say that I've ever been a big Footie (soccer) fan, but had a blast watching a championship match between Dortmund & Shalke in a little German pub this past Spring. Maybe it's the "shared experience" of watching with true fanatics that made it more exciting

actually about 180-degrees around the beltway from Dundalk in the Lochearn/Milford Mill area! But my brother lived in Hampden for a while, which definitely increased my awareness of the hometown vernacular!   Can't say it's nearly as interesting (nor as puzzling) as Cockney rhyming slang!

Perhaps not, but it's just as funny!  My old roommie went to school at UMBC and does the Balmer vernacular PERFECTLY.  Huge O's fan, we go to Camden Yards at least once a summer, usually for a Red Sox game, then hang out in Fells Point afterwards.  She grew up in Baaaaahstin.   As soon as she steps off the plane at Logan, she slips back into her childhood accent.  It's a hoot.

Kinda the opposite of Madonna.

Hey, UMBC is my alma-mater!  "U Must Be Crazy", with its sister campuses in College Park (UMCP = Univ.Maryland Constant Partying) and Eastern Shore (UMES = U Must Eat Seafood)

I knew a terrific bass player with the bands Might Could and Sonus Umbra who was a physics prof at UMCP.  He's in Chicago now though.  My old roommie got her Nursing degree from UMBC in 1988 (same year I got mine at WVU).

Hey, at least you didn't go to Pitt

John,
it seems that the Ram Heaven is turning into a Ram Hell (or Purgatory, at least...). And my INTER did not a good match too, in the beginning day of italian SERIE A.
I know there will be a resurrection soon for both our teams...
BTW, it's a shame that INTER still isn't selling the new centenary "battle lines" shirts! The first edition of the shirt came out with 2 incredibly gross mistakes (even the day of the foundation, stamped on the shirt, was wrong!!!) so all was retired and blocked for the moment...
Me and Dylan have to wait...

Yes, the shirt is very nice...
BTW, yesterday night I felt very ashamed seeing my Inter humiliated by Barca (5-0! ).
I can't understand why INTER have to face the strongest team of the world with a team full of substitutes and babies...

Probably to avoid the better players getting injured, being a non official competition. Locar radios told Inter was playing at 10%. Besides we used all the cracks. And don't worry Francesco, if it was a Champions League game the result would be different for sure.
A rumour (according to footie papers here): Maybe Inter get Deco in January, if he doesn't play.

Roger,
yes I see... but, IMHO, the name of a team like INTER must be honoured in all the circumstances.
BTW, if Deco arrives I'll be very happy: he's a top player and Figo is a bit old...
