Reply with quote | #16 | Sorry Rhino (and Johan).
I had edited out that I enjoy working at a school where we can listen in on other people's music if folks allow sharing on their network. This means I get to spy on the music being selected by teenagers and they can listen to my collection of Asia.
Actually, it's not just the teenagers, but the teachers. My boss keeps saying that she thinks it's funny that I like John Wetton so much, since she was a huge King Crimson fan back before she was thinking about getting any type of employment.
Music does somehow anchor us to certain points in time sometimes, doesn't it? Oddly, Asia (the original album) brings me to 1993 (wrong decade, I know), but the song Wishing is so wistful that it brings me to a much younger age...

Reply with quote | #17 | I am on this board primarily because obviously I am a huge John Wetton and Asia fan.
I also come here because I know several of the posters here in real life, and think they are really cool peeps and like to stay in touch.
As the icing on the cake, I know many of you are experienced music fans, and I enjoy your take, advice, and suggestions when it comes to all things music Asia and BEYOND! |

I see Rhino's point, but I like to hear people's other tastes in music besides Wetton and Wetton-related stuff too. Hopefully KD and JW like hearing that stuff too. I am still digging Johan's suggestion of The Feeling, which by the way, they are close to wrapping up recording on their second album. MK = excited! Reply with quote | #19 | I was blissing out today at work to The Strawbs 'Live at NEARFest' (I tried not to buy it, really). Mr. Cousins' voice sounds like a leprechaun's grandfather, such a lovely patina that age has brought to his voice.
Our next musical outing is in 2 weeks when we venture to Atlanta for ProgPower USA. 3 days of Progressive Metal -- pray for me! __________________ April

Reply with quote | #22 | Ok pete I tried to respond to your message, but it keeps giving me some sort of error where I need to remove double quotation marks, but I looked all through my post and it doesn't even have any quotation marks in it.
Anyway, hope is all well in your neck of the woods.
Keep rocking brother. |

hhhmmmmmmmm.......interesting theory, and the attitude is about the same too. Recommendation: Buy the Serenity House cd. The music is great, and it helps us support the generous artists who support the project.

Reply with quote | #26 | Not musical, but along the 'something for the weekend' theme,I'll be going to bed with Helen Mirren tonight--and every other night till I've finished her autobiography
'In the Frame'. I'll let you know what it's like. |

Reply with quote | #29 | White Stripes cancelled the rest of their tour....Meg has some serious anxiety issues and can't travel, from what I read. The poor dear...I can relate on a very low scale.
Oooooh, Johan! Do tell what you think of the book. I LOVE Helen Mirren, but have yet to add her biography to my collection, let alone my bed (fnarr). Sometimes celebs get lousy ghostwriters and the books suck -- feeling nothing like the folks they are about. Sometimes, though, they're exceptional....it depends, as you know. I just adore Ms. Mirren's work, and the personality I can perceive. She seems like she'd be a wisecracking, warm, un-fussy and witty laugh riot...along with being absolutely stunning. 'Seems like she's seen it all and survived a bunch, ya know? Seems she knows who she is, what she's got, and doesn't give a flying fk what people think they know. I respect that in folks. But, that's just me. I hope the book is excellent.

Ok, the first thing that is wrong w/ your list is that Tool is the most foundation shaking band since Zappa or Phish. While Asia is on hiatus you should go see them every chance you get and get OWNED.
Second thing is, My Morning Jacket should be higher, because they are very good and all around excellent and amazing live.
w00t!
Also, some of my friends keep beating me over the head w the "Peter Gabriel" qwns u'r d0me stick, which I agree, but "Duke" is still my favorite Genesis album |
