To all...the final edits, mixes and running order for the "Urban Psalm" iCon live DVD, recorded on February 21 at St Mary-Le-Bow Church in London, have been completed, and the DVD is ready for final production. Once the artwork is finished, the limited edition DVD will be manufactured and distributed to those who attended the show. A short while after, the balance of the limited edition DVDs will be sold on the member websites. __________________ Sincerely, Kim |

At this point, I have not heard that it will be available anywhere other than this website and Geoff's website. __________________ Sincerely, Kim |

Was browsing through the CD section of a stall in a local Pannier Market yesterday when I came across the Suede album "Urban Hymn" - had to do a double take due to the similarity in title to the forthcoming DVD. Would that have been Icon's preferred choice for the DVD title or was it always going to be "Psalms"? Both work given the church setting, but would have caused some confusion to have had the same title ... just wondering if that entered into the naming process? |

Reply with quote | #13 | Mags, it is "Psalm" singular. Johan has already told me off for getting it wrong! |

Reply with quote | #15 | Here's some food for thought:
I was always taught that a psalm was more personal, a plea or supplication at times, praise at other times, but coming from a single writer rather than a group or congregation. But --
According to dictionary.com, a hymn is 'a song or ode in praise or honor of God, a diety, a nation, etc.' A psalm is 'a metric version of a sacred song or hymn', or 'a poem of a similar nature'. Other references actually say 'a performance on stringed instrument'.
So maybe a psalm is the more musical or artistic of the two? Just musings on my part, but I thought the difference might be interesting, whether or not it's actually relevant to the song title.
