Reply with quote | #1 | Hi Johan,
My 13 year old daughter, Sierra, is working on a book report/classroom web page for school (8th grade). It's about you! She has read My Own Time and the two Asia books. To help complete her project she has a few questions for you (none of her classmates have the luxury of interviewing their subjects--maybe she'll receive extra credit!!!). So here goes...
1) How old were you when you did your 1st live concert? 2) What is your favorite song you have ever written? 3) What's your favorite color? 4) Which do you prefer as a pet...cats or dogs? 5) Who is your favorite singer? 6) Name two hobbies you have? 7) Do you like to go camping? 8) Have you been to Yosemite?
Thanks for your time on this matter--some fun questions. This is info I'm sure she'll enjoy sharing with her class. She has chosen Heat of the Moment as the classroom web page background music. I'll update the progress of her report.

Reply with quote | #3 | Ahhh, we don't get to know? John, how about a curious question of who actually penned "catch a pearl and ride the dragon's wings", a favorite lyric of mine. How I'd love to do that! (No smile face for releasing and feeling free) __________________ Enjoy your day! |

Johan, Thank You for taking the time and sharing your information. On the drive home from school Sierra asked, "Do you think Mr. Wetton has responded to the questions?" You sure put a smile on her face!!! If you feel it best to delete the thread I understand. Again, thank You!

Reply with quote | #7 | There were never any lyrics with the first Asia album--they weren't considered important enough, so now they've achieved retrospective respectability, some goofball at Universal has probably made his (or her) own changes. It has long since ceased to mortify me--as it once did--but it's still really f***ing irritating. |

Even when record companies release versions with lyric sheets they often get them wrong. I bought this version of Goodbye (Cream) a few years back which claimed to be the absolute dog's b*ll*cks/last word on that record. It was one of these sonically improved gold discs in a miniature card replica sleeve of the original album (with the great cover of them doing their vaudeville dance-steps, as taught by Lionel Blair no less) and apparently great care had gone into the whole production. Except ...
Whoever transcribed the lyrics had probably never bothered to do any research. The song Politician (which is about politics - and was inspired by the very British Keeler/Profumo scandal) actually features Pete Brown's words: "I support the left, but I'm leaning to the right".
On this new overpriced/overhyped disc these had somehow morphed into:
"I support the mets, but I'm leaning to the right"!!!???
There were plenty of other errors which I won't bore everybody with but the guy was clearly more a fan of baseball than music or needed his ears dewaxing or both ...

I dated a girl once that worked in A&R Adminstration and she was responsible for getting the liners together and transcribing lyrics on all the albums her record company put out. We broke up because she kept thinking I said "I loath you" when I was saying "I love you." That's okay, she was manipulative and annoying anyways. I will let you decide which parts of this are true. __________________ "I believe I can change my world."

But for now your last two words are in order because for weeks we have been trying to locate the witch's cauldron down in the basement. Otherwise, Halloween ready here. __________________ Enjoy your day! |

Reply with quote | #12 | Beo- on the same subject, the old sheet music book for Asia's 1st album lists that line as 'catch and pull' not 'catch the pearl'. Was glad John set the record straight! __________________ Enjoy today, come what may, this is an extraordinary life! |

Reply with quote | #13 | I think the HOTM debacle started when the Japanese insisted their version go out with lyrics,so they simply took the Japanese phonetic lyrics, and translated them straight back into English. Hence, 'catch and pull', etc. |

Have had that problem before on various electronics. You need a mind reader to understand who translated the instructions. __________________ Enjoy your day! |
