Reply with quote | #36 | Martin is a lovely guy! I do seem to recall having to hip-check some woman in Indy...she tried to steal a guitar pick that was being handed to me by a certain Board Lord we all know... love the front row. Always will!!

Reply with quote | #40 | Well, I am a member of the hardcore West Coast contingent of "rail" fans. I have been in the front 6 of the 10 times I've seen Asia (and pick flicking distance for the remaining 4). Being in the front is an absolute blast (especially when you are allowed to stand up!!). Really, there is nothing else like it.
And I've reached the point that I actually enjoy the wait for GA shows. I have met some really wonderful people spending the better part of the day in line. And it is often the same group of people there early, so every tour is like a mini reunion. |

Reply with quote | #41 | Sometimes front row is not the best place to be, cause if ya gotta go to the restroom it might take a while to get out of front row and sometimes you might not get it back. |

Reply with quote | #43 | As a musician, I prefer front row seats, for all the concerts I see. Usually in front of the pianist/keyboard player, so that I can see his hands. This applies to all the kinds of concerts, rock-classical-etc. For the very few folk music concerts I've seen, I have always been in front of the hurdy-gurdy player, for obvious reasons! Exception to this rule: Yes, as I want to be in front of Steve. Second exception: tomorrow's show in Milan, my friend bought me a ticket in front of Benoit! Third exception: Asia. Again, in front of the singer! __________________ Love,

| | Reply with quote | #37 | Ok Phans and John here is the real deal story about front row..wanna know why because I am the ultimate front row phan ever!! For the band AisA and also the band Phish and many other great artists such as Peter Frampton, Rolling Stones, Colon Hay (Men At Work) Yes, the Outfield....etc..the list goes on forever!! .. The reason I get front row is because I am a guitarist and I learn by visually seeing the guitarist playing and it resonates in my head for some reason and after the show I go home and try to apply what I had just seen!! Anyways the front row game is a hard game to play... it takes A LOT of dedication, time, effort and drive for the love of the music. When a band like Phish is playing a GA show and the floor is a (first come- first serve GA situation) it's important to get to the Venue very early and dedicate the whole day to spending time waiting in line and showing your face to other fans of whatever band it is so U can be the early bird and hold down that spot... What this means is: If your mind set is "I want to be 1st person in the venue, front row" and you get to the venue at what you think is an early time, and you see a line already formed by a fan that is there earlier than you, it ruins your whole game plan. I say this because when you dedicate time, energy, and effort to getting front row, you want to be the first person in, which guarantees any spot you want. With that being said, please ask any questions you want, since I am the front row master. Other than the 56 straight Phish shows I was front row, I have had some of my greatest concert (and front row) moments, and most interaction with artists at Asia shows, seeing John and the Howler. |

Reply with quote | #45 | Missmoonlight -- is Benoit still handing out the drumstick after "Owner of a Lonely Heart"?
John -- It makes sense that you can't see the majority of the audience from the stage. But do the stage lights at least light up the first few rows from your vantage point?
